  • Spring Uniform Collection for Schools In Need
    September 15, 2014

Elizabeth McLaughlin, a CDSSH Sophomore has organized a drive to collect the spring uniforms (we are phasing out) and sending them to a school in need.  The uniforms are going to two schools in Uganda. The lower school is called Trinity Chidren's Centre and the high school is called Centenary High School. They are so excited about our pending donation.  In the next week, collection bins will be placed in both the School House and Dooley buildings.  The first shipment of uniforms will be sent out in November so we are anxious to collect as many as possible by the end of October.

The current plan is to keep the drive active until the end of the year when the spring uniforms will be officially eliminated.  At that time we hope to make a second donation to Uganda.

Thank you to those who already donated your summer kilts at the end of the school year this June.

  • Prayer Service for the Nigerian School Girls
    May 9, 2014

As a school of the Sacred Heart, we are called to be in a community not only with each other, but with the greater world, for the greater good.  Goal 3: Criterion 1 states:  The school educates to a critical consciousness that leads to its total community to analyze and reflect on values of society and act for injustice.  Wearing red today is our symbol of support for the safe return of the young girls kidnapped in Nigeria.  We prayed as a Sacred Heart community along with our Network Sisters for their safe return and to make a statement of faith, that together we can help create a just world.  We will also share ways to educate ourselves and advocate for justice.
